Dedicated to reducing waste and building community, the Vashon Fix-It Café returns Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 10am to 2pm at the Vashon Eagles Club, 18134 Vashon Highway SW.

Advance registration is required to safely stagger fixing sessions and pair you with the right fixer for your job. Complete the simple form on the Fix-It Café website at to be paired with a fixer – or – to volunteer to join our merry band of fixers.

You’ll be given a time to drop off your item (s) and will be called when the fix is finished. For those missing the good old days of in-person fixing, we’re also offering that option – with mask precautions and social distancing, probably in an outdoor setting. If you’d like to be involved in the fix, select that option on the registration.

Fixers are eager to repair your bicycles, sewing machines, jewelry, outdoor equipment, lamps, vacuums, fans, chairs, tables, tools, music players, blenders, toasters, toys, pants, dresses, purses and bags, electronics, and lots more! Fixing and advice are free to the public, but if parts are needed you may be required to acquire them at cost to complete the fix. Please do not bring in anything that drips, smells or is too heavy for one person to carry.

The Vashon Fix-It Café is hosted by the Vashon Eagles Aerie # 3144 and staffed by members of the Vashon Tool Library (, Vashon Makerspace, (,

Zero Waste Vashon (, and Vashon Island Time Exchange, with support from the King County Eco-Consumer Program.

Wednesday Hours Changed for the winter

To better serve our members, we are adjusting our Wednesday evening hours slightly.  The new hours are from 4 PM to 7 PM until further notice.  Your dropoff and pickup appointments must be within that time range.  You’ll see them in the appointment signup page – just select from the available times.

New hours

Beginning in 2016, we will be opening the tool library on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 PM, in addition to the current weekend hours. We want to improve the availability of our collection by adding weekday open hours.

We will also begin to charge late fees for those who do not bring tools back on time.  We have too many tools staying out past their due dates.  Fines will be 50 cents per day per tool up to the cost of the tools.  If you cannot bring your tools back on time, you must let us know by email at and we will renew the tool if no-one wants it.  If you keep the tool(s) out and don’t let us know, fines will be due for the overdue period.
