The Vashon Makerspace will present a chainsaw fundamentals class on Thursday, May 9th, from 6 to 8 PM in the Gallery at the O Space, 18870 103rd Ave SW. The class is a broad introduction to chainsaw use. It covers the care and maintenance of the chainsaw, basic chainsaw safety, techniques of use, and tips on how to handle a variety of situations that islanders may encounter after a storm or windfall. This is a classroom demonstration event, there will be no field work or hands-on chainsaw work. We will also cover some of the additional emergency equipment that is available through the Vashon Tool Library.
Cost for the class is $25, with discounted tickets available for members of NEROs (Neighborhood Emergency Response Organizations). To purchase tickets for the class, go to the website vashonmakerspace.org and click on Events and Classes. Additional classes will be scheduled soon, so if the class is full, send email to firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the waiting list.
